The Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga visited the families of the victims of a crash that involved two busses on the N2 in Mossel Bay in the Western Cape.
The fatal crash occurred between two busses, one Intercape and one Williams Coaches on Saturday, 13 May 2023 at approximately 02h20 on the N2 freeway opposite KwaNonqaba informal settlement.
Six (6) people lost their lives during the crash whilst 15 sustained injuries to varying degrees.
In another separate crash, six (6) people were killed when two vehicles including a Fidelity security vehicle collide on Louis Fourier road in Mossel Bay.
Minister Chikunga expressed deep sadness and sent heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and relatives of the deceased and injured and has called for more vigilance and safer road user benaviour at all times.
Joining the Minster during the visit were CEOs of the Department’s roads based Entities including the RTMC, RAF, SANRAL, RTIA and the C-BRTA as well as senior national and provincial officials.
