Hon. Minister Chikunga has been appointed on the following Portfolios:
Deputy Minister of Transport – June 2012 to May 2019.
Deputy Minister for Public Service and Administration in June 2019 to August 2021.
Deputy Minister of Transport – August 2021 to March 2023.
Honourable Sindisiwe Chikunga, from the 1980’s to date held and served in various positions of leadership and responsibility in many African National Congress (ANC) structures. In 2004 she was deployed by the African National Congress to serve as a member of parliament in the National Assembly. Her diligent deportment, prominent sharp astuteness, hardworking and political responsiveness have been expressive in the various positions she was appointed to serve in parliament. As a member of parliament for over 10 years, she has been a chairperson of the portfolio committee on police, a whip, and a member of various portfolio committees.
She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Pretoria, BA Honours from UNISA, a Diploma in Midwifery and a Nursing Science Diploma both from Edendale Nursing College. She is currently studying towards a Master’s degree in Political Science.
She is not only a passionate, self-driven health and transport sector empowerment practitioner; She is a tried and tested, selfless, and tireless leader of the African National Congress, a feisty hardworking advocate for a holistic socioeconomic development and emancipation of women and the rural poor.
