The following has been achieved<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The launch of the test phase of the IPTN in Tshwane &#8211; Gauteng (A Re Yeng) and George in the Western Cape<\/li><li>The commencement of the infrastructure construction of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Polokwane, Ekurhuleni, Ethekwini, Mbombela, Msunduzi, George and Rusternburg<\/li><li>The launch of the extension phase of MyCiti bus service to Mitchells&nbsp; Plain and Khayelitsha in Cape Town<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Four point eight billion (4.8bn) has been spent on&nbsp; bus subsidy benefiting approximately three hundred and thirty million (330 million) passenger trips<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have also finalised our Draft Scholar Transport&nbsp; Policy which has been gazetted for public comments and is on its way to Cabinet for approval<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The roll-out of the card system is in the pipeline by Gautrain and the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) to commence within their operations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5 million cards to be in use in the next 5 years. Taxis move sixty eight percent (68 percent) of five point four million passengers (5.4 million) on daily basis and contribute immensely to our economy<\/p>\n<p>The taxi industry is an over forty billion (R40b) per annum industry, with about 200 000 taxis, that employ approximately 300 000 direct and indirect job opportunities, which includes driver, taxi marshals and administrative support. The Department will be reviewing the Taxi Recapitalisation model to improve its effectiveness and affordability. Expenditure on the review is projected at R188.5 million over the medium term (2015\/16 to 2017\/18)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card  sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=#collapse10611 href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  aria-expanded=\"false\"><i class=\"ea-expand-icon fa fa-plus\"><\/i> Public Transport Service offerings<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse spcollapse\" id=\"collapse10611\" data-parent=#sp-ea-1061><div class=\"ea-body\"><p><strong>Regulate Public Transport:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To promote a safe, reliable, effective, efficient, coordinated, integrated and environmentally friendly public transport system by developing norms and standards as well as regulations and legislation to guide the development of public transport for rural and urban passengers; and<\/li>\n<li>To regulate interprovincial public transport and tourism services and monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Public Transport Strategy and the National Land Transport Act.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card  sp-ea-single\"><h3
