Mr Mohammed Mahomedy is an experienced executive with a proven track record in logistics, infrastructure, and corporate governance across sub-Saharan Africa. He currently serves as Head: Infrastructure and Rail for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) at DP World, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In this role, Mohammed focuses on developing comprehensive rail and port strategies for DP World in South Africa and surrounding markets, working closely with the SSA Business Development team.
He is also responsible for identifying opportunities aligned with DP World’s strategic objectives, expanding the company’s influence in the broader logistics value chain, and driving private sector participation in logistics reform.
Prior to joining DP World, Mohammed served as Group Chief Executive Officer at a Property Fund and held various roles at Transnet SOC Limited, including Interim Group CEO and Interim Group CFO. His experience also includes a role at Transnet Capital Projects as General Manager of the Capital Integration department, where he was responsible for integrating Transnet’s R300 billion Capital Expansion Program.
With over two decades of experience spanning finance, strategy, and infrastructure development, Mohammed has been at the forefront of strategy development, engaging across various levels within private and public institutions to advance sustainable solutions. His expertise covers rail, ports, inland logistics hubs, and integrated supply chain development, underpinned by a strong understanding of financial structuring, regulatory frameworks, and stakeholder management.
A Chartered Accountant, he holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Mohammed has also completed the Advanced Strategic Management Program at IMD Business School in Switzerland and the Global Executive Leadership Development Program at GIBS.
Outside of work, he enjoys travelling and watching soccer, cricket, and Formula One.
