After graduating in Electrical Engineering, he obtained an MBA and began his professional career as consultant at Bain & Co. where he devoted himself for 10 years mainly to the development of industrial and logistics activities.
Afterwards he started his managerial activity in logistics in Contship Italia (Eurogate Group), as Director of Strategies, Marketing and Business Development and then as Managing Director of Hannibal, new intermodal operator dedicated to the development of railway connections between Italian ports and Europe in joint venture with the German railways DB and then with Italian FS.
Since 2006 CEO of the Italian branch and European Sales Director of Crossrail, Swiss private railway mainly active in the intermodal sector in the Benelux-Italy corridor.
Since 2011 Chief Executive Officer of Captrain Italia, subsidiary of SNCF Group focused on rail freight transport. Second Italian operator with about 500 people, 120 MEuro turnover, 10% market share and main focus on international services. Captrain Italia Group was also active in complementary sectors (shunting, maintenance, terminals) through dedicated subsidiaries.
Since 2024 President of Fercargo Confederation, composed by four associations representing about 50 leading operators across the rail logistics chain. It accounts for 75% of Italyan rail freight operators. Fercargo’s goals are both national and international in scope and it is active in Europe partnering with key European organisations like ERFA (European Rail Freight Association) and Die Guterbahnen, German association of private rail freight companies. In Italy member of Confetra, the largest Italian association representing the entire transport sector.
