Ms. Amanda Makgoa is a senior energy and infrastructure leader with over 15 years of experience driving large-scale transformation across South Africa’s power and transport sectors. She is an Electrical Engineering professional with advanced qualifications in Technology Management, Innovation, Project Management (Cum Laude), and a Master of Business Administration.
A registered Professional Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and a Golden Key International Honour Society member, Amanda has built a distinguished career at the intersection of energy strategy, infrastructure delivery, and sustainable industrial development.
She began her career at Eskom in 2010, where she held leadership roles in operations, maintenance, and capital refurbishment portfolios. She currently serves as Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen Sector Specialist at Transnet National Ports Authority, where she leads strategic initiatives that position South Africa’s ports at the forefront of the energy transition. Her work focuses on large-scale renewable energy integration, green hydrogen enablement, decarbonisation strategies, and infrastructure modernisation to enhance energy security, operational resilience, and long-term competitiveness.
Amanda is recognised for her ability to translate national policy and ESG imperatives into executable infrastructure programmes that unlock investment, strengthen institutional capability, and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon transport and logistics ecosystem.
